The goal of MamaMia’s Lamaze class is for you and your partner to get a positive delivery which both of you can look forward to with joy. We will help you through several practical exercises that are interspersed with reality based cases from the maternity care. During the course, we practice among other things relaxation and breathing techniques and teach you what you should do to focus on important goals.
We want you to feel assured when you take a class with us. Therefore, all our instructors are midwives or experts with long experience. MamaMia’s Lamaze class in Stockholm is open to everybody.
About our Lamaze course in Stockholm
To be pregnant and becoming a parent is often described as something fantastic and unique that no other experience in the whole world can compare to. The goal with our Lamaze class is to give you the the tools that you need in order to prepare yourself for the labour.
MamaMia’s Lamaze class originates from three central elements where we intersperse theoretical knowledge with many practical examples and exercises:
Mental training
No two deliveries are the same. You can’t always influence what happens during childbirth, but you can influence your attitude toward what’s happening and prepare mentally in several ways. Through mental training, we prepare you for the pain that is present during a delivery and how you can relate to it. Our goal is to make you dare to go with the waves of contractions instead of being afraid of them. That’s often the difference between being prepared or not.
The course of delivery
Today we know that a prepared mother to be has better chances achieving normal childbirth. Therefore, we will work through a general course of delivery and teach you how you can handle the contractions, through breathing, during each separate stage of the delivery. Since the child passes the pelvic floor during birth we also work through some exercises for it, which is not least important when you are to relax and let the child out.
The role of the partner
That you yourself get affected and share everything that happens during childbirth is something that most people who’ve supported a delivering mother can certify. If you as a partner is well prepared before this task then you increase your chances of becoming a good support and can be the spokesperson for the mother during delivery. Therefore, we practice several realities based role-plays that are much appreciated during the course.
